The technical Guideline “Connection and operation of energy storage units on the low-voltage network” (June 2019) specifies the requirements for connection and operation of energy storage on the low-voltage network. It expands on the Technical Connection Rules for low-voltage (VDE-AR-N 4100) and the Application Rule VDE-AR-N 4105, which is specific to generators connected at low-voltage.
The document details technical requirements specific to energy storage and provides different connection layouts as well as operating concepts. Thus it contributes to the safe and network-compatible operation of energy storage systems and serve as a valuable practical guide for network operators, system installers, plant operators and manufacturers of power generating plants or energy storage units in connection with power generating plants. The technical Guideline also contains the first time technical requirements for energy flow direction sensors (EFD sensors).
